Happening Now

Here is a link to a Parent Docent Training on November 8 at the Frye Art Museum.

For parent volunteers in school classrooms, this workshop provides training in facilitating interactive discussions about art, leading art lessons, and developing creative habits in students. Kathleen Allen, current Director of Education, Communications and Partnerships at Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, will say a few words at the end of the day about the art program she started at Schmitz Park, and which I wrote about here.

Parents practice Visual Thinking Strategies in the Museum galleries and learn techniques for teaching art making while participating in hands-on art activities. Capacity is limited. Pastries and beverages served. Clock hours available through Seattle Pacific University.

Before You Vote –  Read the Seattle School Board candidates’ views on arts education here.
School board candidates in 58 different districts were asked to complete the School Board Candidate Survey on Arts Education. Candidates in almost two-thirds of those districts responded! See who responded (and who didn’t) and compare their views before you vote this election.
